KIPP Austin College Prep is a middle school entering its seventh year of operation and will serve 360 students in grades five through eight for the 2008-2009 school year. Its pioneer group of eighth graders entered the school as fifth graders scoring on average in the third grade level in their math and reading skills. Upon exiting, they were performing as well as high school juniors and seniors. We are seeking teachers in all subject areas to support the continued success of the middle school.
KIPP Austin College Prep teachers are primarily responsible for ensuring that every student achieves the academic skills, intellectual habits and character traits necessary to succeed in the nation’s top colleges and universities. Teachers use data to inform their instructional choices and develop structured and dynamic lessons to engage all students; their successes are evidenced by significant academic gains attained by their students, and through students’ exhibiting strong decision-making capabilities, personal responsibility and healthy interpersonal relationships. KIPP Austin College Prep teachers seek advice from colleagues, principals and staff to continuously hone their teaching skills. In addition, teachers contribute to the overall development of the school by supporting and leading additional activities and clubs.
