Individual gifts are what keep KIPP Austin Public Schools fulfilling our mission every year. 93% of KIPP Austin’s annual gifts come from individual donors.
Nationally, 89 percent of low-income, first-generation college students leave college within six years without a degree. The college drop-out rate for first generation, low-income students is four times higher than that of higher-income, second-generation students. Fewer than a quarter of all college degrees in Texas are awarded to Hispanics, and just 10 percent to African-Americans. This gap in educational achievement between low and higher income students, first and second generation students, limits the life prospects of millions of children in central Texas and across the nation.
"I have learned and grown more than I had ever thought I would at KIPP and want to continue that growth in college. KIPP has not just taught me how to write a well written paper, or how to find the definite integral of an equation, but also how to deal with problems and not run away from them."
– Andrea Martinez, Class of 2013
As a public charter school, KIPP Austin actually receives about $1,000 less in state funding per student than a traditional school district. We rely on the generosity of our supporters to guarantee that all KIPPsters receive a quality education and successfully complete college.
Your gift will support all our students, from kindergarteners learning to read in English and Spanish, to middle school students participating in community service projects, to high school juniors preparing for the ACT. By helping close the funding gap you are helping build a better tomorrow for all KIPP Austin Public Schools students.
